Have you or a loved one used JUUL E-Cigarettes?

JUUL May Increase Risk of Addiction – If You’ve Used JUUL e-Cigarettes You May Be Entitled to Significant Compensation

According to a study published in the esteemed journal The Lancet, JUUL devices have nicotine concentrations nearly two-times higher than similar devices, which can increase the risk of users becoming addicted.

Studies have shown that nicotine can be harmful to developing teenagers. In fact, nicotine can impair lung and brain development when used during adolescence. Health complications that have been reported involving teen and young adult JUUL use include:

  • Seizures
  • Stroke
  • Lung problems
  • Cardiovascular issues
Teen Vaping is an Epidemic

Researchers at Stanford studied tobacco advertising and its impact on the market. What they determined was that JUUL marketed to youth by exploiting social media marketing channels and their tactics were working. In fact, vaping among youth has shown a dramatic increase since 2017, so great an increase that the FDA called it an epidemic.

Why JUUL is Involved in Lawsuits

Lawsuits are being filed against JUUL because many people believe the company is liable for adverse reactions caused by vaping with the devices. For instance, one young adult suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke due to vaping two JUUL cartridges every day, which is the same amount of nicotine as in two packs of cigarettes. He started juuling when he was in high school and the addiction became so bad that he was vaping every ten minutes. He had to go through three brain surgeries and suffered paralysis on his left side with a partial loss of vision. Charges made against JUUL include negligence, misrepresentation of products and fraudulent concealment.

Other cases have been filed by parents who claim JUUL intentionally promoted to teens. As more research is done into the long-term effects of JUUL devices, more people may come forward with cases against the manufacturer.

To hold a manufacturer responsible, the claimants must prove they were fraudulent in not telling of the dangers of using the product or negligent by promoting to underage users. They may also be held responsible for intentionally misrepresenting the facts about their products. Claims made that say JUUL devices are safer than traditional cigarettes are one way of misrepresenting those facts. The FDA sent a letter requiring JUUL Labs to change advertising that claimed their products were safer because they didn’t have the data to back up the claims.

If you or a loved one has suffered negative effects from JUUL vaping devices, you may be entitled to compensation for your loss. As more people come forward and more cases go through the court system, it may pave the way for others to receive the compensation they deserve. Manufacturers of vaping devices must be held liable for irresponsible advertising and for marketing to an underage target market.
