Who Is Affected by the Prescription Opioid Epidemic?
Prescription opioid addiction has affected nearly every age group, from babies born to addicted mothers, to teens and young adults who are dying from overdose at a rate of about 5 per day, to adults and seniors age 55 to 64, where the overdose death rate jumped from 4.2 deaths per 100,000 to 21.8 deaths per 100,000 in less than 5 years.
