Parker Stinar has dedicated his career to representing clients in high-stakes, complex civil litigation involving sexual abuse, toxic torts, catastrophic injury, medical negligence, and institutional failures. He has litigated cases in more than 40 jurisdictions across the country, earning a reputation as a formidable trial lawyer and a trusted voice for survivors.
Parker has played a central role in securing over $1.5 billion in global settlements, including serving as Lead Counsel in more than $1 billion in settlements for survivors of sexual abuse. He is widely regarded as one of the nation’s leading attorneys holding powerful institutions accountable for enabling sexual predators.
Parker currently serves as Co-Lead Counsel in Jane Doe v. Weiss et al., a landmark class action in the Eastern District of Michigan involving former University of Michigan football coach Matt Weiss. He filed the first class action in the matter, and all related cases have since been consolidated under his lead complaint. The case centers on allegations that Weiss hacked into student-athletes’ university email and cloud storage accounts, accessing highly sensitive personal content, including private and sexualized material. The lawsuit also asserts systemic failures by the University of Michigan in data security, employee oversight, and institutional accountability. Representing a class of over 150,000 current and former female student-athletes, Mr. Stinar is helping lead one of the largest privacy and Title IX-related data breach cases in the country. His leadership has garnered national attention, including an appearance on Good Morning America, and reflects his continued commitment to holding powerful institutions accountable in complex, high-stakes litigation.
Parker previously led litigation against Northwestern University, representing student-athletes who have endured a culture of sexual abuse, hazing, and racial discrimination. He has filed multiple lawsuits on behalf of former football players and other athletes against the university and key leadership figures, including former head coach Pat Fitzgerald. This widely publicized case elevated national awareness around abuse in youth and collegiate sports.
One of Parker Stinar’s most high-profile matters involved his representation of hundreds of survivors of sexual abuse by former Chicago-based OB-GYN Dr. Fabio Ortega, in litigation against several of the region’s largest healthcare systems, including NorthShore University HealthSystem, Swedish Covenant Hospital, and Endeavor Health. Parker filed lawsuits in Cook County, Illinois, and through his strategic leadership, successfully coordinated and consolidated multiple actions filed by various plaintiffs’ firms. He was instrumental in securing the consolidation of five separate cases for joint trial, an extraordinary procedural achievement that significantly increased the pressure on the defendants and expedited justice for the survivors.
Parker also served on the court-appointed Plaintiff Leadership Team in John Doe v. University of Michigan, a historic case involving over 1,000 male survivors of abuse by former university physician Dr. Robert Anderson. Representing over 200 survivors—more than any other law firm—Parker helped secure a record-breaking $490 million global settlement, the largest known resolution involving male survivors of sexual abuse.
Parker played a role in litigation surrounding former Michigan State and USA Gymnastics physician Dr. Larry Nassar, whose abuse led to historic settlements of $500 million by MSU and $380 million by USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic Committee. His advocacy in these matters contributed to accountability and financial recovery for hundreds of survivors.
Beyond the courtroom, Parker is a member of CHILD USA, a national nonprofit committed to legislative reform for abuse survivors. He works closely with lawmakers to advance statute of limitations reform and other critical protections for survivors nationwide.
In the area of toxic torts, Parker represents nearly 1,000 clients exposed to toxic water at Camp Lejeune, a military base implicated in widespread PFAS contamination. His work in this complex litigation is supported by strategic co-counsel relationships and national leadership appointments under the Camp Lejeune Justice Act.
Earlier in his career, Parker gained national recognition as a skilled medical malpractice and birth injury trial lawyer. By age 30, he had already secured multiple seven-figure verdicts, including back-to-back trial wins in 2015 and 2016. By 35, he had tried over a dozen cases to verdict across multiple states, resulting in eight-figure recoveries for his clients.
Parker’s unwavering commitment to holding institutions accountable and fighting for the rights of survivors defines his career—and sets the standard for advocacy in complex litigation nationwide.
